Jeane Decker, LCSW, CFTP

Jeane Decker, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Certified Family Trauma Professional.  Jeane completed undergraduate and graduate studies at Marywood University, and is a member of the International Training Institute of Trauma Professionals.  The focus of Jeane's work has been assisting clients who have experienced trauma, including work with families who have been affected by one or more members experiencing a traumatic event. Previous work experience includes having held positions at the Women's Resource Center, Scranton Lackawanna Human Development Agency, as well as, private practice work.  Jeane has a passion for educating her community regarding the trauma of domestic violence.  She continues to be a member of the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency's Resilient Voices, (a group that provides speakers for events around the state) since 2005.   She has presented workshops at the local, state and national level to groups including local and state police, and most recently co-presented to judges attending the Annual State Trial Judges Conference in Pittsburgh. Kristen Baer, Certified Group Fa​cilitator, Counselor/Advocate

Kristen Baer is a Certified Group Facilitator for Domestic Violence Intervention Education Program (DVIEP).  Kristen has been facilitating DVIEP groups for 8 years in Lackawanna County. Kristen holds degrees in Management and Social Science.   Kristen's focus for the past 17 years has been client/family centered and community driven. Kristen partnered with Lackawanna County Courts as a team member  and voice for families within the Family Court, Treatment Court and Domestic Violence Courts rotations.. Kristen has supervised several housing/reunification programs over her 17 year career which partnered with the courts where she played a key role in bridging the gap for families to be reunified with their children while providing the necessary wrap around services needed to get back on their feet. Kristen is trained to facilitate Thinking for a Change which is a CBT curriculum that concentrates on changing the criminogenic thinking of offenders. Kristen is the only facilitator leading groups for Women who use Violence in their Intimate Relationships (In Our Best Interest-Working With Battered Women) also Keeping Women Safe Post-Separation. Here at LOTUS we are interested in creating the wrap around individual and family services needed to reduce the episodes of Domestic Violence in our Community and our Courts. Kristen has spoken at numerous community events, colleges and schools  in an effort to educate and raise awareness  and let them know where to seek help. Kristen previously worked at The Women's Resource Center from 2003-2011 before going to United Neighborhood Centers from 2011 until June 2019. Aaron Best, Art Therapist

Aaron Best has provided mental health services with wide ranging populations in several private and non-profit settings over the last 18 years. Aaron’s most recent roles have been in mental health administration as a clinical supervisor, project developer, coordinator and practicum advisor to future mental health professionals. He has also worked in several settings from outpatient counseling, community residential rehabilitation, inpatient, mobile family therapy, residential treatment and provided emergent psychological assessment as a mental health delegate in the county of Lackawanna, Pennsylvania. Further, Aaron has provided resource coordination as an intensive case manager and therapeutic staff support to both at-risk children and adults. Prior to private practice, Aaron began his interest in mental health treatment through his experiences in community-based outreach programs as an instructor and program coordinator for children’s museums, community art and afterschool educational programs. These varied experiences have provided direct and one-to-one experience with several populations ranging in age from infancy to convalescence and encompassing struggles with diagnosis such as psychosis, personality disorders, crisis management, depression, bipolar, anxiety, cooccurring disorders, autism, intellectual disability trauma, and traumatic brain injury.
